Therapy can help you wake up excited for the day ahead.
Most of your time is spent staying busy and pleasing others. Now you don't know what pleases you. If someone asks what you do in your free time you may think "What free time?" or "What are hobbies"? Conflict with others is often avoided, and you find yourself giving in to others.
You've done so much alone, but this time it's more difficult and you don't see a way to make a change. You've become tired of being the 'strong one' and just want someone there for YOU!
Your relationships may be experiencing more and more conflict and you wish you could have your needs heard and respected. It may be difficult to even know what you need right now.
For as long as you can remember there's been a feeling of "Not good enough". It holds you back from doing things and wishing you could reach for that promotion, relationship, or saying no when you don't want to do something!
Memories or nightmares of past events may cause you to feel like the trauma just happened again. Leaving you fearful, apprehensive, feeling shame and guilt. Memories are fuzzy but a part of you remembers.
You may have difficulty relaxing, sleeping too much or too little. Headaches, body aches and other issues may arise that your medical doctors can't always find the reason for.
Sonia woke with a feeling of dread daily. It was getting more difficult to hide her puffy eyes from lack of sleep. She woke early before anyone else in the house to get things done. gulping down coffee in between tasks was how she stayed awake all day. The kids needed her, work needed her, and so did her aging mother. So she pasted on a smile and pushed through the shaking hands and queasy stomach.
During the day she was often so busy forgot to eat anything. Her demanding boss was relentless and kept piling on more work she felt. Then there were the texts from her aging mother telling her how something Sonia had done was wrong or that mother needed something right then. It was all so overwhelming.
Sonia began to notice her hair was falling out, and she often felt pain in her body. She was gaining weight. She would often cry uncontrollably and felt panic for seemingly no reason. She was irritated at everyone and everything, yet often felt lonely. Pretending everything was okay wasn’t working anymore. She felt like she was losing her mind.
Sonia realized something was wrong… she needed to make a change, and start putting herself first.
Once Sonia started therapy with me, things began to change. With help, Sara learned how to calm her racing mind and find peace. She felt supported and understood, which made her feel stronger every day. She learned how to tell others what she needed from them, and soon had support at work and home.
Sonia found joy in her day. She made sure to take time for lunch and go for her favorite walks again. The sick feeling in her stomach wasn’t there, and she felt more confident at work. She found time, and the desire, to be with friends and family without feeling overwhelmed. She began to tell others how they could help her, and when she was too busy to help with their needs.
Sonia strengthened her relationships, and filled her life with happiness and purpose. She found support from friends and family, and found the courage to apply for, and receive, a promotion at work for her dream position. Sonia was able to achieve her goals with the support and skills she applied from her sessions.
